- [Instructor] The Timeline View is a great high level view of a project. It also lets you adjust the dates in the primary view. To see the timeline, go to the View tab, then in the Split View section, turn on the Timeline checkbox. That will display the timeline at the top of the window just beneath the ribbon and above the view that's in the primary pane. The timeline bar shows the start and finish date of your project. You can add tasks to the timeline to emphasize important parts of your project. Maybe you've got some important summary tasks that you want to show to management or crucial milestones. To add something to the timeline, you right click the task in the regular view in the primary pane. In this case, the Gantt Chart. I'm gonna right click Planning Move. On the shortcut menu, go down near the bottom and click Add To Timeline. That adds a bar to the timeline. It has the name of the task, and you can see the dates.
