- [Narrator] You can sort tasks, resources, and assignments in project to find the information you need more easily. For example, sorting tasks by WBS is helpful during planning, while sorting by duration comes in handy when you're looking for tasks to shorten. When you sort tasks, it's a good idea to turn off the summary tasks. To do that, we're gonna head to the format tab. Over on the right side in the show hide section, turn off project summary task and summary tasks. Now you see the list of just your work tasks. To sort the list, head to the view tab and click the sort button. There are a few built in sorts. If you want to sort by start date, choose by start date on the drop down menu. Or if you have a cost-cutting initiative going on, click the sort button and choose by cost. If you want to get your tasks back into the original order, click the sort button and choose by ID.
