- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Bonnie Biafore. Project is happy to calculate cost for you, but what if your company has another system that tracks cost? In this tip, I'll show you how to enter costs from another system into Project cost fields. Here I have a project and I have the cost table applied already. If you don't, you can go to the view tab, click the Tables button, and then choose cost. Project calculates cost based on resource rates, hours, costs for cost resources, and so on. But if you want to copy cost information from an accounting system into your project file, you have to do a little bit of work. Now first of all, I just want to point out that you can edit the actual cost field for a completed task. I'm going to right click task two, Analyze business needs. And on the toolbar that appears, I'm going to click the 100% button just to set it to complete. Now when I do that, it fills in the actual cost for me.
