- [Bonnie] Hi, Bonnie Biafore here. Limiting the number of dependencies with either lag or lead is another scheduling best practice. In this tip, we'll filter for lag and lead so you can see whether you need to correct the schedule. The problem with lag between tasks is that it can hide work that's being done. Plus there's no way to track that work status. We can see that issue with task 12, Obtain Permits. I'm going to scroll over to the right in the timescale so we can see what's going on there. Basically the way this is set up is after the contract is signed, there's a lag of 15 days while the permits are in the works and then you have this milestone that says well, the permits basically show up. Now obtaining the permits is not work for your project team but stay you can progress on the county permitting site.
