Fast-tracking tasks - Microsoft Project Tutorial
From the course: Managing Time-Constrained Projects with Microsoft Project
Fast-tracking tasks
- We will continue to reduce the duration of our current project schedule by fast tracking. This will allow us to put tasks overlapping into our schedule. Since this is the case, we've decided that our interior walls can be done at the similar time as our roofing. We're going to change the predecessor for task ID number 17, to 16 FS minus one day. This is a negative lag and will give us a lead, or overlap, into those two tasks. We may also want to see the duration decrease based off this change. Since we have a constraint assigned to task ID number 40, we may need to remove that at this time. I'm going to double-click on that task and reset my constraint type back to as soon as possible, which will eliminate my constraint date, and thus reduce my overall duration back down to 28 days.
