- We'd now like to start to fill in the actuals for our project. We've launched it, and we want to see what the variances will be from our current plan. To do that, we'd like to make a few additional modifications in our project file, so we'll be able to see the status as we go forward. So I want to right click in the Gantt chart area and select Gridlines. I'm going to scroll down to the bottom of the list here and select my Status Date gridline. Under the type, I'll make this a solid line. And of course, I'll make it nice. So that it shows up on the screen, I'll make a red color. I'll press OK. Now I need to actually set that status date in my projects so I'll be able to see the grid line over here in the Gantt. So I'll go to the Project ribbon and in the Status Date area in the Status section, I'll put in 7/18. And of course, it'll know that it's 2015. Now my status date has been drawn in my Gantt chart.
