Dependencies, part 1: Setup to review link types

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Bonnie Biafore. One scheduling best practice says that summary tasks shouldn't be linked to other tasks. In other words, only work tasks should be linked. In this tip, we'll filter tasks to find summary tasks with dependencies, so you can correct these issues. The first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to insert the Predecessors field into this table. So I'm going to right-click the Duration heading, and on the shortcut menu, choose Insert Column. I'll start to type in Predecessors, and when I see the field in the list, I can click it to add it to the table. The next thing is going to be creating a new filter to looks for summary tasks with links. So I'm going to go to the box that says No Filter, click the down arrow, and on the dropdown menu, choose New Filter. That opens up the Filter Definition dialog box. It selects the text in the Name box so I can start typing the new name for the filter. And that's going to be C_Sumlinks. Now I can add my tests. Well…
