- Material resources represent tangible items consumed by a project. Like packing boxes or wine for the office open house. Material resources don't have a time component like work resources do, so you fill in fewer fields. We're gonna head over to the resource sheet. On the task tab, I'll click the bottom half of the Gantt chart button and then choose resource sheet on the dropdown list. I'm gonna head to the first blank resource name cell and type in the name of my material resource, which is wine. When I tab over into the type cell, Project fills in work automatically. However, if I type the letter M on the keyboard, Project switches to material, which is what I want. So now I'll tab over to the initial cell. Initials can be an abbreviation for material resources but in this case, the wine is ... The name is so short I'm just gonna type that in as the initials as well. One thing to notice. Because a material resource does not have a time component, you don't fill in maximum units…
