- Abraham Lincoln famously said, "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe." I love this quote for two reasons. First, it beautifully highlights the importance of planning and preparation. And second, if you compared your PMO setup to Lincoln chopping down a tree, we're now just over the three and a half hour mark of sharpening the ax. We've done our planning, received the go ahead from the leadership to setup the PMO. And are at the cusp of starting the actual implementation work required for the setup. Now we'll talk about updating the project plan. The three pieces of the project plan that you should be looking at updating are the scope, the schedule, and the budget. Let's look at scope first.
