- I'm often asked if it's the project managers responsibility to identify the requirements for the project. The answer is no. It may be their job to capture or document the requirements, but certainly not to define or identify them. In this video, we're going to learn exactly who should be getting involved in defining and analyzing the requirements. Consider this, you've hired a project manager to manage an extension you're having built on your house. Would you expect them to know exactly what you want and describe it to the builder without consulting you? Absolutely not. A good project manager will sit down with you and discuss what you want. They'll ask a number of questions to better understand your needs and they will create a list of requirements for you to approve. In a business environment, it's just as crucial to involve people from the business areas where the change is going to be delivered when defining the requirements.
