PMO maturity characteristics
- J.P Morgan once said, "the first step towards getting somewhere, "is to decide you're not going to stay where you are." The same holds true for the evolution of our PMO. You must have a reference point of where you are, and realize that you want to progress to a relatively better stage. That's why I want to now share with you the maturity characteristics of a PMO. We can judge whether a PMO is Budding, Established, or Optimized based on how strongly its three components: Functional, Structural, and Disciplinary have been set up. Think of it as a matrix, where the PMO's components listed as columns, and the maturity levels forming the rows. Let's talk about what the PMOs components look like for each level of maturity. I do wanna make sure you understand that I'll be painting a frame of reference, a guide, if you will, for each maturity level. This is not a checklist or a recipe.
