- As a scrum master, part of your role is to remove obstacles for your team. Sometimes, solving these impediments is relatively easy. For example, helping your team get access to systems or experts. Other times, removing the roadblock will require you to influence key decision makers. So, here are a few tips to help you do that. First, make sure you're focusing on winning the important battles. Don't exhaust your time and effort on things that will only have a mild positive impact. For instance, if you don't want to file a weekly status report anymore, and your team needs specialized training, consider which item has the greater positive impact for everyone. In this case, the training does, so focus your energy there. Next, realize that you have to sell your idea. No one is obligated to buy into your suggestion, so you must get them to want it.
