How to create a value culture
- There seems to be too much focus on project delivery these days and a lot less focus on projects achieving any value. This means to create a value culture, you'll need to shift from being delivery-centric where you just focus on delivering on time, budget, and to quality, to being value-centric where the emphasis and importance is placed on realizing benefits for your project and ultimately the business. Value is seen as the extent to which benefits, both financial and nonfinancial, will exceed the resources required to realize them. In other words, value is a positive return on investment. To recognize value, the business must consistently apply benefits realization activities and maintain a strong focus on realizing benefits for every project and program. Every project and program must expect that benefits realization activities and assigned responsibilities are completely normal and should always be carried out.
