- Every journey needs its own roadmap. You're PMO setup needs one too. And within your PMO roadmap, you need another one solely focused on getting the right metrics together. Having the right metrics isn't just about figuring out accurate metrics that tie to your company's objectives although they show progress and guide decisions. In order to present the right metrics regularly and consistently, you need to have a few pieces in place. First, the relevant data for the metrics should be available. Metrics are data points or a combination of several data points. For example, project budget is a data point on its own. It is the budget that was approved for the project. And project spend burn rate is a combination of two data points. The funds currently spent by the project and the duration since the project started. Without these data points, there are no metrics.
