The ultimate 80s guitar room sound

- [Instructor] In the 80s there was a trick used by many LA studio guitar players to get a live sound, even though the guitar might have been taken direct. You're going to like this trick so much, that you'll use it even with an amplifier and a simulator. Now let's listen to this particular song with the guitar soloed up. It's a nice clean sound and that's what the trick works best on. Have a listen. (guitar music) Now you can hear there's a little bit of reverb there, and that's what was actually dialed in on the amplifier when it was being recorded. So there was a very close mic situation here, and there's not much of a room at all, and that's what our guitar room trick is actually going to provide. So what we're going to do is insert a stereo delay, and I'm going to just take the medium delay from Pro Tools and here's the whole trick. On one side we're going to set it to 25ms. We're not going to time it, just 25ms. And on the other one 50ms. And then we're going to set the mix…
