- [Instructor] Pro Tools is commonly used in post-production to enhance audio and add sound effects for film and video. You can import digital video into Pro Tools in either QuickTime or Avid MXF formats. Let's take a look at the basic processes involved with using video in Pro Tools. Here I have a session open that I'm going to use to add sound effects for the opening scene of a video for the Daunting Inferno webcast series. I'm working in standard Pro Tools software, which means that I cannot create an empty video track as I could if I were using Pro Tools Ultimate. So to create a video track in standard software, I have to import a video file. So let's do that by going to the file menu, and choosing import, video, and let's navigate to the location where I've stored the QuickTime file for this episode.
