Vocal proximity repair with RX 5

- [Voiceover] I spend a fair amount of time by cleaning up vocal tracks before I start mixing. One of the things I look for is the proximity level or the evenness of a vocal in a track. So check this out, this was a song I was mixing for someone recently and at one point, I was like what is this? (alternative music) If you notice on the word in, she turns her head away from the mic or pulls back or something's happening. (alternative music) And solo of course you can hear it even better. (girl singing) Especially when the word good comes in quite a bit louder afterwards. It throws the listener off and even with a fair amount of compression or limiting, it still didn't sound right when I was mixing. Of course this is the raw track I was given to mix. What I did was I used iZotope RX 5 to actually even out some of the notes here and I'll show you how. It's kind of an unusual technique. Are we using the connect plugin in RX 5 to send it from pro tools to the stand alone RX5? And so once…
