Tightening a rhythm with Elastic Audio

- [Instructor] Besides being useful for changing the tempo of a clip or fixing an isolated timing issue, elastic audio is also great for improving the overall timing of a rhythmic performance. By using elastic audio with the quantize function, you can easily lock in the timing of guitar, bass, or drum parts that might otherwise drift out of sync. Here I have a variation on the congas part that we looked at earlier, but in this version, the timing is a bit sloppy, and it doesn't sync tightly with the other drum part. Let's take a listen to those two parts together. (upbeat music) So you can probably here that some of the congas are not right in time with the drums track. Let's zoom in for a closer look. And let's listen again. (upbeat music) All right, so you can see where certain hits while the corresponding hits on the drums track are right on the grid. The congas track already has elastic audio applied, so let's see if we can improve the timing using the quantize function. by…
