Summing overview: Fundamentals of Pro Audio Equipment
Summing overview: Fundamentals of Pro Audio Equipment

Greg Wurth explains analog summing as the process of combining multiple audio channels down to a stereo signal. He points out that each channel's processing (pan, EQ, compression, volume, etc.) is preserved down the chain as it gets summed into the L-R stereo channel. He mentions that summing inside a DAW works in essentially the same fashion, but instead it relies on the software's algorithm for the job.
