Join David Franz for an in-depth discussion in this video Recording with playlists and Loop Record, part of Pro Tools 9 Essential Training.
Playlists are one of my favorite features in Pro Tools.…They can act as virtual recording tracks for recording additional takes of a performance.…In this session, I've got two acoustic rhythm guitar tracks, panned left and…right, and a lead chimey guitar part, and I am going to add a bass track.…Now I have recorded one track already--…it's right down here--and now I am going to add a new playlist.…You do that by clicking this little Playlist button here.…I am going to say New, and it asks you for a name.…
I am just going to say OK.…Now, my bass track just disappeared, or did it?…If we go back to the Playlist selector, you can see that it didn't…actually disappear. It's just hidden.…So it's go back to the empty playlist, and I'm going to record another take.…(Music playing.)…So, now I've got two playlists, two different takes of this bass part, and I can…switch between them. And I can actually switch between them in real time while…playing back if I want to.…
But let me show you one other thing.…
