Prepping real pianos with RX 5

- [Voiceover] Real acoustic pianos are wonderful instruments with amazing overtones and lots of expression. But they can also make a bunch of pretty distracting noises. One of the main ones I run into is the sustained pedal I've got an old, 100 year old upright piano in my studio and you can hear it right here in this sample (slow piano music) so you can hear it when he's moving and when he's stepping on the pedal, that it's clunking a little bit especially in the low end. You can simply put an EQ on this and try to pull some of that out, but you're gonna do a lot of damages to the frequencies of the piano, you're gonna cut a lot of the good stuff out as well. It's maybe not desirable, it might help the problem but it's not the absolute solution. What I like to try using these days is Izotope RX 5 I can get in and really surgically remove a lot of the clunks…
