Navigating the interface of Synclavier V

- The intent of the partial timbre method of synthesis is to be able to design completely new, complex musical sounds by easily creating and modifying acoustically identifiable sub-components of existing sounds. The original Synclavier is a digital synthesizer and it used a custom button panel that gave users control over soloing and design of each component when a note was performed. Each sub-component is referred to as a partial timbre. Each partial in Synclavier V has a 24 harmonic carrier wave form with phase control for each harmonic. These harmonics in any combination create a wave form that can be played and also viewed graphically. In addition there is a 24 harmonic modulator wave form which is used via FM synthesis to modulate the carrier wave form. Let's take a look and see how all this works together.
