Making and using bandpass filters (high- and low-pass combo)

- So one of the things that plug-ins make really easy to do is to set presets that you like using. And one of the ones that I do all the time is a really simple band-pass filter. I find that a lot of times when we're working in Pro Tools or working in any recording that we need to reduce either high or low end information on a track. So, I'm going to show you my preset. I have my own line of plug-ins out. This is how we're going to work. So I open up the EQ7. Any EQ is going to have two bands of possible shelving would work. Here's my little band-pass preset. And what I've done is simply turned on the high pass filter and the low pass filter, HPF, LPF. Kind of sounds like sunscreen, doesn't it? Then I can grab these points. I start with them fully wide open. 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz. And I can just grab these points and visually close them in. I've also done this, I've made real steep EQ curves, on this.
