- [Instructor] Another thing that you can do, to keep yourself primed to sit down to write later, is to keep a file of unfinished songs. Now, a file could be a file on your laptop, it could also be a physical file with snippets of paper or even little bits of recordings. Whatever the case may be, keeping a file of unfinished songs, is a great way to jumpstart the process when you do eventually sit down to write. Let's face it, some days aren't great for finishing songs. You'll start something and it'll feel like it's going to go well, and then you just sort of stall out. That happens, happens all the time. You might feel fresher in a week, in a month, sometimes even a year later. If you go and revisit that file of unfinished songs, you'll be able to dig back in and finish up. Another thing that I do when I'm stuck on a song, if I've come back to it a couple times and don't feel like it's really something I can finish on my own, is reach out to a co-writer.
