Filters: Fundamentals of Pro Audio Equipment

There are 3 types of filters: high pass, low pass, and band pass. High pass rolls off all frequencies below the desired frequency cutoff, allowing the upper ones to pass through. Low pass is the opposite. It rolls off all the frequencies above the frequency cutoff, allowing low ones to pass through. A band pass filter is a combination of the high- and low-pass filters where they roll off the high and low frequencies while only letting a desired amount of mid frequencies to pass through.
