EQ your vocal with multiband compression

- [Instructor] Sometimes there's a better way to effect the frequency response of a vocal rather than using an EQ. In this trick, we'll explore how a multiband compressor can do the job. First of all, let's listen to the track. We have the lead vocals soloed, and just listen carefully to the frequency response. ♫ No matter where I am ♫ I can see your face - [Instructor] I can hear reverbs nice on it. Everything's kind of nice, but it's a little cloudy. There is some low-end-- basically some upper base that's there that's kind of in the way, and it's not as clear as it could be. So we could use an EQ for this, but on the other hand, sometimes a multiband compressor works better. So let's insert our multiband compressor, and in this case, I'm going to use something called a fab filter promultiband. And the beauty of this is it also gives you a frequency response read out at the same time, so it kind of shows you where the problem areas are. Watch. ♫ No matter where I am ♫ I can see your…
