Double Compressing Vocals

- [Voiceover] When I'm recording someone, I like tracking my vocals with a little bit of fast, quick compression. Something to just rein in some of the peaks. Not totally overt, but just enough to keep things from peaking out and keep the words kind of even. And then when I'm mixing, I'll add a little more compression in a different way to the track to try to just hold the vocals in focus and bring out all the words and expression. But many times, like in this case, I've been sent a track to mix and the vocals were pretty much, I'm sure, recorded without any compression. So in this case, I'm gonna double compress the vocals. And this is a great, old school trick everyone should try out every once in a while. The first compressor I usually put is something just to do like that first tracking compressor does. I'm just knocking down a few peaks and keeping the loud parts in check, I should say. In this case, I'm gonna use 1176 UAD plugin. I really like this, it's easy to set. I'm gonna…
