A third makeover

- What's funny is, that for all the tweaks, the client never saw this version. That's because with its new-found clarity, it revealed something that should've been questioned at the beginning but wasn't, and that's, why these four birds? The caption lists 17. Yeah, they're what the client provided but here's a thought. Instead of making these four bigger, why not picture all 17? It could be a "How many birds can you spot?" sort of thing. This is where the sign gets interesting for everyone, meaning newcomers and repeat visitors. It's a bird-spotting game. It's kind of fun, kind of interactive, great for parents and kids, classrooms on field trips, all that. We proposed this idea and the client loved it, the takeaway being to not assume you're limited to what's there. The key aspects of the format remain the same, headline at the top, lead text below it, birds below that, the horizontal flow. To fit the pictures, the type had to move to the left and now the sign looks like this. This…
