Simple guillotine trims
- Guillotine trims can give the effect of a die cut without the price tag. If you're unfamiliar with the guillotine cutting process, the guillotine is a machine that printers use to take large stacks of paper and, using a straight blade and tremendous pressure, trim a stack of paper perfectly straight in one powerful pass. You might be surprised at what a simple short trim on the cover of a brochure or on a fold-in panel can do to even the most basic of folding styles. A short trim lets the contents of the panel below show through and, from a production standpoint, it doesn't add to the cost because it's not a die cut. To make things interesting, you can use a shot of bright color or run large text up the side on the panel below and let the cover visually chop the edge of the text.
