Broadside folds

- Broadside folding is a technique that doubles the area of a folding style because the sheet is folded in half first before any characteristic folding is done. This style of folding has several benefits to a folded brochure. First, you get extra real estate for graphics and information, the most common use for the large interior spread as a poster or a map. You also get a more substantial or a higher quality feel because of the added thickness that happens in the doubling of the sheet. And then of course, you gain lots of new creative opportunities. Broadside folds are fairly straightforward in their format, but for their simplicity, the level of production difficulty increases a bit with the addition of the right-angle folds. For example, a standard tri-fold consists of two parallel folds, which is very simple.
