Learn how to set up a connection to a the local system from Presto.
- [Instructor] Now let's take a look at the system catalog…which has a lot of information about your Presto cluster.…So to do that, we'll just log into Presto here.…And if you recall, we have a function here…called show catalogs.…That'll show me everything that Presto is aware of,…all the current catalogs that it can connect to.…We've already looked at Hive and MySQL.…Now we take a look at the system.…From here if I want to take a look…at what's inside of the system…I can say show schemas from system.…You can see that there are four different schemas in here…from four different data bases.…
Let's first take a look at the metadata schema.…So to see the tables in there I can say…show tables from system.metadata.…I can see I've got three different tables.…If I wanted to take a look at say catalogs, I can say…select star from system.metadata.catalogs.…And like that you can see all the catalogs…that are known to Presto.…So this system database has a lot of that information there.…
