Get familiar with additional connectors available in Presto.
- [Instructor] As I mentioned before,…Presto supports many different types of connections,…many different databases that you can query…and one of the really interesting things…about Presto is that it also connects to things…that you may not think you can run SQL queries against.…So for example, Apache Kafka.…This is the real time streaming platform…that is really popular out there…for centralizing your logs and a lot of your data…that's in flight in between your system.…You can actually set up Presto to query topics…which are those data streams in Kafka in real time.…
So you can run your standard anti SQL queries…against something that is completely unrelational,…something that's not even a database.…This also applies to Amazon S3.…As I mentioned, Netflix also stores a big majority…of their data in these S3 buckets…which are essentially just like network drives…with a bunch of flat files sitting there.…You can query those using Presto…and it'll do everything it would do…if it were a hive or my SQL or any of those other platforms…
Data science expert Ben Sullins helps you get up to speed with Presto, and leverage it to accomplish a wide-range of data science and analytics tasks. He uses different interfaces with Presto—such as R and Tableau—and digs into the expressive SQL language that Presto offers for your analysis. At the end of this course, you'll know the key concepts of Presto and how to use them to take full advantage of your modern big data system.
