The use of codecs

- You may have heard this word, Codec, before when it comes to making these types of outputs. In fact, I may have mentioned it already. I thought it was a good idea to just break this word down so you really understand what we're talking about. Code is a neologism, it's a combo word made up of other words, either code, decode, or sometimes coder, decoder. And that's exactly what a Codec is. It's the actual algorithm that is used to encode video or audio into a digital file. Codecs are not just used in outputs. They're used in all manner of video applications. A Codec is at work in your camera when you're shooting. When we're editing, Codecs are behind the scenes, striving Premiere Pro. And when you make an output, primarily what you're doing is setting the Codec and parameters for the perfect output for your use case.
