A note about network time

- Important parts of the collaboration workflow in productions rely on timestamps as reported by the file system. It is because of this that we need to check that our editing system time and the server's time match. With shared storage solutions, there is usually a way to configure date and time. The easiest way to ensure that all of these times match is by using an NTP time server. For example, in this system, I am accessing the time.windows.com time server. So what is NTP? Well, the Network Time Protocol, or NTP, is a networking protocol for clock synchronization between computer systems. NTP is intended to synchronize all participating computers to within a few milliseconds of UTC, or universal time. The individual workstations and server would further set time, depending on the time zone in which they are located.
