What is metadata?

- As you work with Media Insider Premiere Pro and in other Adobe applications, you'll often take advantage of metadata. Metadata is essentially data about data, information about your files. Now some of this information is added at the time of capture. It can include information like the date that it was captured or the file format, or information about the particular camera. Some cameras in fact allow quite a bit of metadata to be added right to the file, such as the director or the client, and this becomes backed up with the information. Other metadata can be added during the ingest stage, or during the editing stage by the editor. Let me show you where you can access this. I'm working with version two of our project, but you can go with version one as well. Let's go to the media for edit folder and go into the video folder, and I'll now switch to the metadata workspace. To do this, I'll just click on the menu and choose metalogging.
