- Let's go into Premiere and take a look at what those colors mean on that digital meter, and what exactly DBFS is. When we're playing, actually what we're hearing is not important. What I want you to concentrate on over here is the meter, to the right of your screen. And the meter, as you can see, is mostly green, and then you have a little bit of yellow, and over here, you have some red when it gets too loud. And it equals exactly where they feel you should be cautionary. So green, I always think of green is go. Yellow is yes. You're getting a little a warm, but it's not bad to be warm. Actually warm is an ideal place to be for your mix. Red, obviously not. You don't want to be red. They're warning you, you're red, you're about ready to distort. Because once you hit zero, there's nothing above that, and you will distort. Let's just take a bigger look here of the meters, and when you enlarge it, it goes sideways, which actually, I like.
