- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm Ashley Kennedy. Welcome to Introduction to Video Editing. In this course, I'm gonna be blending the art and aesthetics of film editing with targeted technical skills in a project-based approach. I'll begin by exploring the story-telling process and the editor's role in it. I'll then show you all about the grammar of film editing as we dissect the various tools that we can use to show emotion, meaning, and advancement of story. After a short intro to the major, non-linear editing applications, I'll take you through two projects, a short, non-dialogue narrative film set to music, and a documentary-style piece with interview and b role. We'll be going through each of these projects in a broad sense, showing proper work flow, from start to finish, by drawing specific examples from the beginning of the course. Now when you're finished with the course, you should have a gained a good understanding of the incredible world of video editing and be prepared to go forth in other lynda.com trainings to learn more about this exciting craft.
