Join Jason Osder for an in-depth discussion in this video Ways of deleting on the Timeline, part of Premiere Pro Guru: Essential Keyboard Shortcuts.
…There are a couple of ways to use the keyboard to delete on the timeline.…But they're a little tricky, so I want to go…over them in details and see all the wrinkles.…So, here I am on the timeline and in fact I'm going to hit grave and…just go full screen so we can really see exactly what's going on on the timeline.…And the first one of these is exactly as you would expect…it, which is I select any clip and I hit the Delete…key, and it disappears, and that is what's known, Premiere Pro calls…a Clear, and traditionally in non-linear editing is known as a Lift.…
That clip has been lifted out of there, and the hole is remaining.…So I'm going to undo that and put it back.…And the other keyboard shortcut that I want…to show you is called a Ripple Delete.…And the meaning of a Ripple delete, anytime that you here the word ripple…in non-linear editing, it means that that…change is going to ripple through the timeline.…And I want to show you something here, I'm going to select it, I just want to show…you where this is in the menu so we can really get detailed about this.…
