- [Instructor] One of the most overlooked steps in the video editing process is just your ability to watch video. I find that a lot of non-video editors scream for you to start to play and make editing decisions right away rather than just sit back, relax, and observe your video objectively, because the first time that you watch a video is really the only objective time that you'll be with it. I learned that skill from a video editor by the name of Walter Murch, who edited feature films for Francis Ford Coppola. And it makes senses that most of the people who will be watching your video will only see it once. And you wanna be inside their head as much as possible and potentially see what they might see when they first look at your video. So I recommend to basically play back your video in a video player outside of a non-linear editor and sit with a pen and paper and make notes, or with a template.
