Using lookup tables (LUTs) for quick looks
- One of my favorite options to stylize images is the use of lookup tables. Now, there are several lookup tables included in the lumetri effect, and Photoshop has its own collection. What I want to show you how easy it is is to start with some of these, and then create your own custom lookup table. I'm going to show you how Photoshop can be used to design this and then you can export it for use in another app like Premiere Pro or After Effects. Now in this particular case, I want to stylize this footage a bit. You'll find when you click on the adjustment layer here for lookup tables that you can access built in LUTs. For example, let's go ahead and give this a nice Kodak film stock. And I can try out some of the different choices here. That's looking good. And I want to apply a little bit of a curve. So using the targeted adjustment tool, I'm going to pull down the shadows a bit, while popping the whites so they're nice and bright. There you go. I drag through, you'll see that change…
