Using the Alpha Adjust effect
- Let's go ahead and open sequence 4.5. In here you're going to see three sets of clips. Let's go ahead and apply the Alpha Adjust effect to all three of them. So I'll go to the Effects panel, type alpha, and that's one, that's two, and that's three. Let's go ahead now and click on the very first clip, the top one, and let's look at the settings for Alpha Adjust. As you may have guessed, this effect lets you adjust just the Alpha channel on a clip. So you can do certain things. You can change the opacity. This is identical to changing the opacity from the Opacity settings. You could Ignore the Alpha. As you can see, when you select this, there are no transparent parts on the clip. You can also Invert the Alpha. This is pretty self-explanatory. Or, you could just view the Mask. Because we have feathered edges in this particular clip, when we show the Mask Only, we also see the mask in grayscale, but with blurred or feathered edges. Let's try that on the second clip now.
