For many people, visual impairment might get in the way of their desire to consume video content or to visit websites. How do you make sure that what people with visual impairment are getting is the same information? In this video, author Richard Harrington discusses how to make sure the same information is relayed to people with visual impairment.
- For many, visual impairment might get in their way…of being able to consume video content or websites.…Now in this case, you might be thinking,…well, they can still hear everything that's going on.…But it doesn't necessarily mean…that they're getting all of the same information…as a person who's relying upon two senses.…With visual impairments, remember…that this could be either the decreased ability to see,…to the extent where you can't wear glasses…or contacts to overcome it.…
For example, I wear contact lenses.…And without my contacts, it's difficult…to read and see some things but with them I'm fine.…However, my grandmother had visual impairment…to the point where she was not able…to read or see things using glasses.…Her vision had deteriorated with age and due to diabetes…that she was legally blind.…She needed other types of content…to be able to access and enjoy,…switching to things like books on tape or radio…or the ability to listen to audio-described programming.…
Blindness is defined as a complete…or nearly complete loss of vision.…
