Understanding effects that use masks

- Almost every single effect in Premier Pro uses masks. These are used so that we can isolate the part of the clip that we'd like for the effect to affect. Let's try it. Let's go ahead and open sequence 6.1, and let's add the Fast Blur effect to this clip. I'm gonna change the amount of blurriness so that I can no longer read the name of the saw or understand the logo of it. But I don't want to blur the entire clip, just the logo and the name. So I'm going to add a mask. For this I just click on one of these icons and the mask gets added. So I can add an elliptical mask, I can also create a four point polygon mask. Let me go ahead and delete the first one and add the second one. There you go, I can adjust it, move it to where I need it. To delete the mask simply click on the mask's name and then press the delete key. I can also create my own shape by using the pen tool with the Free Draw Bezier.
