Understanding the Normal category
- The Blend Modes are divided into different categories, separated in the drop-down menu by a thin line. Each division line signifies a new category. Let's start with a first one, which is simply the Normal Category. With the Normal Category, you're going to have two Blending Modes, which are Normal and Dissolve. What the Normal Category simply means is that the color of a pixel is not effected in any way shape or form, but whatever pixel is under it. Unless, of course, the Opacity of the pixel changes in which case the pixels under it start showing. Normal is the default Blending Mode that we use. It's what we use all the time, unless of course, we change it. Go ahead and open Sequence 5.2. Place your play-head on top of the first set of clips. Go ahead and select the top clip and expand Opacity. From here, you will see that the Blend Mode is indeed Normal. Now, if I make the top clip semi-transparent, then the bottom pixels start showing through. This is to be expected, and its how…
