Understanding the Non-Red Key effect
- Let's go ahead and open sequence 4.4. We are going to be using the Non-Red Key effect. The Non-Red Key effect simply means that it can key out a channel that is not red, so either blue or green. This effect will not only key out pixels, but will also help blend the two clips. It is surprisingly easy to use, and we usually use it when the blue screen key is not working properly. So let's go ahead and add that effect. I go to the Effects panel, and type non, and here it is, the Non-Red Key. I will apply it to the top clip, and here we go. In the Effect Controls panel, we're going to see several options here. Let's discuss them. Threshold is the first one. This is going to set the levels of blue or green that are going to be keyed out. You can drag this to the left until the blue disappears. I'm going to put this at around 17 or so. Cutoff, this sets the opacity of non-transparent areas. So you can drag this to the right until the key looks good. I think it looks good there, at around…
