In this video, instructor Richard Harrington demonstrates how to create a gradient in After Effects with Colorama.
- Similar to gradient maps is the Colorama effect…inside of After Effects.…It's really the same effect,…just a different user interface.…Let's explore how we can apply colors to an image…to really stylize it,…whether you want to do this subtly for just a tint or a look…or more dramatically for something like a bumper.…Let's explore this effect inside of After Effects.…It's called Colorama,…and it's very similar to the gradient map.…In Effects and Presets I'll just search for Colorama.…My preference is to apply it to a new adjustment layer.…
Just select an active sequence or comp…and say Layer, New, Adjustment layer.…Now the Colorama effect can be applied.…By default it has some pretty awful presets,…just like the Photoshop effect does.…From the output cycle here, you'll see different presets.…For example, we can go with something simple like Ramp Red.…It creates a nice tint effect.…Drop that into a blending mode, like Hue or Color,…and it's going to apply much more gently to the footage,…giving you that tint without overpowering.…
