Have you ever needed to light living room to make it look like it is nighttime for a production like a commercial that will be used for television and for the web? What are some essential techniques and pieces of gear that you will need? In this movie, author Richard Harrington walks you through how to light a living room for a nighttime scene for a commercial or narrative production.
- So we're just finishing up our first location…set for the day, we have been shooting…in the living room and we're going to make…this look a bit darker so the lighting…and the color balance has been purposefully…designed to make it feel a bit bluer…and a little bit more like it's the end of the day.…We've also built a commercial loop…that's flickering through because we want…to see the channel changing effect,…so built all that and just made a looping DVD…using some original footage and some stock footage.…Now as we shoot we have to move things around the room…so slight repositioning of the furniture…to accommodate for lights, we're also playing…with the depth of field as we adjust…so it's working very well but it does…require some changes of light to optimize…for each angle as we go through the production.…
The living room was very essential to be dark.…As such we blocked out all the windows.…Additionally, we rearranged the furniture…so it looked best for our positions.…Moving it a little bit to the left side…
