Roll and ripple edits

- Learning how to utilize both ripple and roll edits are a major milestone in your improvement as an editor. Using them for the fine-tuning of trim edits is really key to perfecting your edits. Let's take a look conceptually at ripple and roll and as they exist on the timeline using the ripple and roll tools knowing that these techniques are going to play out with more tools and techniques in later movies. Here's what the ripple tool looks like, and its shortcut is "b" and it's often one of the first tools that people move into when they leave behind the selection tool. The key to the ripple tool is that the changes you make with it ripple throughout the timeline. I want to show you this a couple different ways so you can see what I mean. If I extend the outgoing edit there with my ripple tool, what you'll see is that it gets longer and all of the other clips push down further. When I release, you see they all move down.
