Previewing and organizing media assets

Back in my TV news days it was almost always crunch time. I didn't have extra time to organize my media assets: my video, audio, image and graphic files. I just fast-forwarded through them, made quick notes about those I definitely wanted to use, and cranked out a script. Well, the video production world usually doesn't have that kind of time crunch, and you're typically working with more assets than you'd find in most news stories. So I suggest you take the time to preview and organize your assets. Doing so will help speed up the entire production process. You'll have faster access to your video clips, you'll be less likely to leave out an important clip, and the final edit of your story will go that much more quickly. I am going to show you how I use Adobe Premiere Pro to organize my assets, but there are other similar options.
