Optimizing audio files for import

- Premier Pro can use most audio formats out there. MP3, WAV, MPEG, and AIFF files just to name a few. However, if you're on an older machine with less processing power or limited RAM you may wish to convert your audio to a format that puts less stress on your CPU before you jump into cutting your video. For example, MP3 files are great because they're small and you do not lose a lot of quality even though they're highly compressed. However, decompressing them on the fly while editing can challenge your computer. It can cause choppiness during playback. Converting them to a less compressed yet larger format can smooth things out when editing. Now, there's no lesson file for this movie, however, there is a compressed audio file available for you. I'm going to use Adobe Media Encoder to convert this file. Now, let's convert this using the technical term, our jargon we're going to transcode this file from MP3 to an AIFF file format.
